Kadakkal is one of the Dalit Parishes of the Diocese of Punalur. Once it was one of the most flourishing parishes of Punalur. For some time, because of certain neglect by priests who were entrusted with the parish, the people started distancing themselves from the Church. Under these circumstances, Bishop Mathias Kapil asked us to take up the parish and do something for the poor. Accordingly in the year 2002, we undertook this parish as a venture of the Province. A relevant and meaningful ministry is to help the education of the poor children of the Dlait community. There was already a primary school and now there is also a small orphanage started by us for the very poor children of the Diocese. It was started only in the year 2003 for the Dalit Catholic Children of the Diocese of Punalur.
