Passing of Rev. Fr. Yacob Simiyon OCD
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rev. Yacob Simiyon, a beloved member of the South Kerala Province (OCD). Rev. Fr. Yacob Simiyon was involved in a serious road accident that tragically claimed his life. Rev. Yacob Simiyon was a devoted and cherished priest, whose contributions to the ministry and community will be remembered with gratitude.
Rev. Fr. Yacob Simiyon was born on February 21, 1986, in Paruthiyoor, Kerala, and was ordained as a priest on December 27, 2012, in the Trivandrum Diocese. Throughout his life, he displayed unwavering dedication to his priestly duties, bringing solace and guidance to countless lives.
In his journey in the ministry religious priesthood he did his Simple Profession on December 08, 2004, Solemn profession on October 28, 2011, received the ministry of Acolyte on August 12, 2004, followed by his ordination as a Deacon on October 28, 2011. Finally, on December 27, 2012, he was ordained as a priest, committing himself fully to the service of God and the Church.
As a Conventual at St. Teresa’s Monastery, Rev. Fr. Yacob Simiyon played an active and integral role in the community. His dedication and leadership were also evident during his tenure as Parish Priest and Superior at San Joe Bhavan from October 10, 2021, until April 30, 2023.
He touched the lives of many through his ministry, showing compassion, understanding, and love to everyone he encountered. Rev. Fr. Yacob Simiyon’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his memory will live on through the lives he touched.
