Seminar on St. Therese of the Child Jesus and Meetings of Vocation Promoters & OCDS Animators
St. Joseph’s Provincial House, Kottiyam, August 3, 2023 — In a significant gathering aimed at delving into the life and spiritual teachings of St. Therese of the Child Jesus and of the Holy Face, a seminar was held today at St. Joseph’s Provincial House in Kottiyam. The event was organized as per the decision of the Provincial Council held on July 20, 2023.
The seminar, which spanned from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, witnessed the participation of numerous attendees, including clergy members, Vocation Promoters, and OCDS (Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites) Units’ Animators. Reverend Dr. Gabriel Maliakkal OCD, a distinguished scholar and theologian, was the honored Resource Person of the day.
Participants were treated to a profound exploration of the life and spiritual doctrine of St. Therese, affectionately known as the “Little Flower.” Dr. Maliakkal’s insightful presentation not only shed light on the historical aspects of St. Therese’s life but also illuminated her enduring message that continues to resonate with contemporary believers. The seminar aimed to breathe new life into the teachings of St. Therese, infusing her wisdom into the activities and missions of the attending communities.
Following the enriching seminar, the day’s schedule continued with scheduled meetings. From 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm, Vocation Promoters engaged in discussions focused on fostering vocations within their respective communities. Simultaneously, from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm, OCDS Units’ Animators convened to strategize ways to animate and strengthen their units in alignment with the teachings of St. Therese.
The event served as a platform for participants to gain a deeper understanding of St. Therese’s spiritual legacy and to contemplate ways in which her insights can be integrated into their personal lives and the missions of their communities. The emphasis on nurturing vocations and strengthening the bonds of the OCDS units reflects the commitment of the attendees to carry forward the values espoused by St. Therese.
